With Purim approaching, many of us will be inundated with baskets and bags of sweets and treats.

While it's nice to receive gifts, it can be tough to resist the temptation to indulge.

Here are a few creative ways to deal with the influx of junk:

  • Only save what's worth it: Be selective about what you keep. If you don't love it, don't keep it. (And when you do decide to indulge, share it.)

  • Give away the rest immediately: Spread the wealth to family, friends, or coworkers.

  • Donate it: Consider giving the excess to local organizations that collect food for those in need.

  • Gift it: to your cleaning lady, mailman, or Amazon driver (lol): They’ll definitely appreciate the gesture.

  • “Out of sight, out of mind!”: If you must keep it, store it in the basement or in the back of the freezer where you’re less likely to bump into it.

  • If that doesn’t work, try keeping it in your neighbor's house: Just make sure to ask permission first!
