As the fast day approaches, some might be thinking of drinking Vitamin Water or the like before fasting. Instead of those sugary, color and chemical laden electrolyte drinks, try the alternatives below.
Here's an easy way to make your own electrolyte drink:
Freshly squeezed citrus juice (usually orange, lemon, and/or lime)
1/8 t Himalayan Pink salt (has 84 trace minerals) or a mineral supplement
squeeze of raw honey or maple syrup
Mix these into filtered or coconut water, shake, and enjoy! Sip throughout the days prior to a fast.
Another great source of electrolytes is coconut water or to buy a whole fresh coconut, make a hole and drink its pure water. The flesh is great for you too!
Either way, in the days prior to a fast, make sure to stay well hydrated, eat wholesome nourishing water rich plant foods, and try to limit salt and coffee whenever possible.
